In September 2017, Hurricane Irma decimated Ragged Island in The Bahamas, home to about 80 full-time residents. Prime Minister Minnis declared the island unlivable and vowed to begin rebuilding the island with green energy and sustainable systems. A task force was assembled to begin assessing the damage. After touring the Island School’s campus, the Center for Sustainable Development was invited by the Prime Minister to be consultants in the Ragged Island rebuilding project.
